The five day course is basically your ticket into working in the rural field as most farmers will not employ you without such training, or reference from such a well established school. The school have stated that if the student is dedicated and determined they will have no trouble finding further work after the initial Placement that will be found for you. This means that you need to be proactive and independent with your job search.

Who can take part in this programme? The programme is aimed at people who are aged between 18 and 30 that are able to obtain an eligible visa to work in Australia. Candidates who are on a tourist visa and do not wish to work in Australia following the Jillaroo and Jackaroo school may also apply. Please contact Cultural Cube to be quoted the school only price.

All Programme participants should have a good level of conversational English. What is 'good'? You need to be able to communicate easily in English so that you can understand any safety messages and, of course, talk to your co-workers. As this is a work-travel Programme, you need to be in good health so that you can undertake any duties that are required of you. Perhaps one of the most important conditions of participation is that you must be flexible, mature, enthusiastic and responsible…. A sense of humour also helps!!

Although we will find you your first placement, you will need to be proactive in finding your next placement. It is not compulsory, but have a driving licence in their home country plus an international driving license will work to your advantage.

There are hundreds of jobs out there! Here are some examples:
♦Fruit picking   ♦Vegetable picking   ♦Farm and Station work   ♦Feeding animals   ♦Crop harvesting   ♦Fencing

♦General Repairs at a farm  ♦Gardening   ♦Farm Nanny

All jobs will vary in their wages. You will be told how much you will be earning per hour before you start working. Sometimes accommodation is provided at the farm where you will be working. Depending on the season, some fruit pickers and farm workers can make anything between A$500- A$1000 per week! The harder you work the more you will earn!
