For persons aged at least 23 years, the Game Reserve offers a selection of Game Ranger training courses. Designed for anyone wishing to learn more about the African bush and animals plus those seeking a formal Game Ranger qualification. Two practical training courses are offered on property and we strongly suggest combining these with distance learning through UNISA (University of South Africa) where a selection of courses and qualifications are available.
Practical Game Ranger Course
A unique six week course conducted the Game Reserve under expert tuition, focusing on practical game ranger training in a private game reserve environment. A senior and highly experienced Game Ranger will be your tutor; teaching you all the core tasks and skills required to be a Game Ranger.
UNISA Game Ranger course
A distance learning course which covers the theory areas of becoming a qualified Game Ranger The course is accredited by the FGASA (Field Guide Association of South Africa) and can only be undertaken in conjunction with the Practical Game Ranger course. There are 82 modules and passing graduates are issued a UNISA certificate. The whole course can be completed online.
In-House, In-Field Game Ranger Course
This 8 week programme gives participants the chance to hone their skills and knowledge within an private game reserve. Participants work in a supervised capacity with an assigned Ranger and Tracker conducting bush walks plus game drives. Entry onto this programme can only be done after completing the six week Practical Game Ranger course plus the UNISA theoretical game ranger course.
